The datadock is located in the port area of Strasbourg, a place where all important European IT and Telco lines run through. This is an optimal location which guarantees fastest connections to all European regions, enabling us to provide all international customers with high quality services.
The datadock was finished and put into operation in autumn 2010.
Right from the start and during the planning of the datacenter, much attention was paid to energy saving. The main target was to protect the environment and also spare financial resources.
Therefore, the fact that the building is situated in one of Europe's groundwater-richest areas was critical for the choice of the project's location.
Because this great groundwater source opened up the possibility to implement an innovative and eco-friendly well cooling system into the data center concept, which is also unique in its kind.
In that way, datadock's energy consumption is kept so low in the end, that it can be called Europe's greenest data center.
At present there is no other data center in Europe with less power overhead. Normally more than a 60% on the total energy, which is needed for operating the IT (servers, storage etc.), has to be added for operating the data center infrastructure (especially the climate system). At datadock, however, the energy overhead only amounts to 18%, which means that by comparison 66% energy overhead can be saved.
This equates to more than 25 million kWh power savings per year at full load; which in turn means more than 24 million kg less CO2 emission, which is the CO2 consumption of over 119,000 trees in one year.
Internet connection, through 7 ISP optical fibers, which provides you 100% network uptime.
Dual, separate power per rack, use of UPS and diesel engines in case of a power failure.
With water cooling system which makes datadock the most eco-friendly data center in Europe.
In case of hardware failure, the damaged parts will be replaced in less than 4 hours.
24-hour protection of all sites by qualified personnel and only accessed by licensed technicians.
Monitoring through webcams, climate control, humidity sensors and automatic fire extinguishing system.
